2024 Home Remodeling Trends
With the holiday to-do list in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to daydream guilt-free about house projects for the upcoming year! Curious about what home remodeling trends you can expect to see in 2024 and how you might incorporate them into your home? Keep reading as the Twin Cities Che Bella Interiors design team shares the trends they see making a splash across the industry and within our projects.
Looking ahead to 2024, storage takes center stage. Homeowners are requesting that storage be intentionally incorporated into their remodeling projects across the home. Gone are the days of storage solutions being confined to garages and basements. Storage is expected in nearly every room in the home.
Remodels are stealing square footage from garages in order to add or increase the size of mudrooms to contain clutter.
We’re seeing even greater smart kitchen storage options in cabinetry and in pantries.
And, home offices playing dual roles as multi-purpose rooms will need storage to tuck office supplies away (and sometimes even a bed!)
Once again, expect sustainability to be at the top of the requested home remodeling list in the upcoming year. Homeowners understand that they can significantly impact sustainability by how they live in their homes. In the case of home remodeling, how a home is laid out and what materials are used within the home make a dramatic difference.
Materials such as flooring, lighting and glass contribute to sustainability. Eco-friendly luxury vinyl plank flooring is durable and will last for years.
Awareness of home water usage continues to rise. Expect low-flow fixtures in kitchen and bath remodels, including dual-flush toilets that conserve water, to be the norm rather than the exception.
Technology in home remodeling continues to build in the upcoming year. Smart home technology is expanding dramatically with many functions in a home controlled through an app on a phone.
Expect to see sound, lighting, and electronics being wired and re-configured through remodels. Convenience plays a part, while cost-savings are also in the mix. Che Bella Interiors often works with a smart home technology firm to integrate technology solutions into our designs.
In outdoor living spaces, retractable screens provide homeowners with flexibility on how they will enjoy the outdoors, and weather-rated televisions and sound systems bring the indoor entertainment experience outside.
