At the start of this project, the home was still rooted in its original 1980s design. A large fluorescent ceiling soffit was the unintended focal point of the kitchen, the mudroom/laundry entry from the garage felt tight and inefficient, and a pass-through window from the kitchen sink to the formal dining room added one more dated detail from the original build.
We brightened, reorganized, and reimagined several key areas of the main level to create a updated feel. Wood flooring was extended into the living room, the kitchen layout was improved for better flow, and additional cabinetry was added in the adjoining informal dining room. In the kitchen, crisp white perimeter cabinetry blends seamlessly with a warm walnut beverage station and island, complemented by classic tilework and thoughtfully integrated storage that brings both charm and efficiency to the space. The mudroom received its own refresh with timeless shiplap detailing, built-in shelving, and a reconfigured layout, made possible by stacking the washer and dryer, to maximize storage on both sides of the compact entry.
