Wicker and Woven, Texture that Transforms
Timeless wicker and woven elements are making a stylish comeback in home design, appearing in accessories, furnishings, and lighting. The Twin Cities Che Bella Interiors interior design and remodeling team is excited to talk about these texturally delicious elements that add depth and warmth to virtually any space in a home. We’ll highlight recent projects, starting with a newly finished whole-home remodel, to show how this versatile trend works well in three different homes. Take a look at how an intricate basket, a woven light fixture, or an artisan wall hanging can elevate this trend and imagine how these elements might enhance your own home design.

Woven Light Fixtures, Coastal Style
We recently completed a lakefront remodel for homeowners drawn to a coastal aesthetic of warm neutrals, wood and pops of navy. To bring in natural warmth and subtle texture, our design team chose light fixtures made with natural woven fibers that add visual depth without overwhelming the space. The result is an airy, relaxed atmosphere that perfectly captures the coastal vibe they envisioned.

On the left, a pendant hand wrapped in natural jute rope hangs above the kitchen table, adding organic texture to the space. To the right, a coordinating flush-mounted fixture brightens the foyer. The textured fibers of both fixtures diffuse the light, casting a warm and filtered glow.

These sconces emit a soft and inviting light in the stairway and echo the natural textures found in the kitchen and foyer fixtures, all wrapped in organic jute for a cohesive feel.

Boho Charm with Natural Accessories and Wallpaper
In our Tailored Boho lower level and bathroom remodel, woven textures bring warmth to the modern boho styling. Crisp whites and modern lines create a fresh, structured foundation, while layered details like baskets, woven-look accent tile, and rich wood shelving, add softness and character. These textural elements flow effortlessly into the adjacent three-quarter bath, tying the spaces together with a cohesive, inviting feel.

The lower-level bathroom in this project uses both a literal and figurative approach to woven design. In the image on the left, a coarsely woven wicker basket adds warmth and texture, offering a striking contrast to the sleek shower tile and shelving. In the shower niche, woven-look tile, though not crafted from natural materials, mimics the feel of handwoven elements, reinforcing the organic aesthetic.

Look closely and you’ll see woven wallpaper accenting the nook wall beside the fireplace, showcasing how textured wallpaper is a subtle, yet effective, way to add dimension to a space.

Wicker and Woven Furnishings in a Lakeside Retreat
In this Lakeside whole-home remodel, a coastal-inspired palette of crisp whites and warm neutrals creates a calm, inviting space. Woven and wicker elements, like an exceptional piece of woven artwork, functional baskets in the pantry, and a woven strap dining bench in the dining room, add texture and warmth and complement the clean lines and natural finishes of the home. These layered details not only soften the space but also reflect the home’s waterfront setting.

On the left, the dining room seating features a beautifully woven strap bench, while a textured basket centerpiece rests on a soft fabric runner that warms up the sleek dining table. To the right, a multi-toned handwoven artisan wall hanging adds visual interest to the wall adjacent to the kitchen.

The pantry features wicker baskets in varying sizes that hold beverages, snacks, and everything in between. Their warm tones provide a striking contrast against the slate blue shelving.
