Creating a Cohesive Space Using Bold Art-Driven Design
This Savage, MN living room remodel is a case study on the impact of thoughtful design, demonstrating how each element— from furnishings to artwork and accessories—works together to create a cohesive space. The project shows how intentional selections can shape the atmosphere of a room, reflecting the homeowners’ personalities and experiences. The clients were looking for a bright and fresh perspective in their living room and took inspiration from recent travels to Amsterdam. This presented an exciting challenge for the Che Bella team, who was tasked with curating a design that reflected this influence. The resulting design features bold furnishing choices, including a pair of deep mustard chairs and accent pillows with saturated color. Large-scale, locally sourced artwork was selected to complement the furnishings to enhance the room’s aesthetic. Each piece in the room was chosen with a purpose, weaving together individual elements to tell the shared design story.
Space Planning – It’s More Art Than Science
Proving that living room design doesn’t have to be expansive, this Burnsville, MN lower-level living room remodel creates a welcoming space for family and friends using tried and true design layout tenants. The refreshed faux finish fireplace provides the anchor in the space. The seating arrangement is centered around the fireplace, creating a natural gathering space with a cozy sofa and swiveling leather accent chairs that move with the room’s activity. A fabric-covered footstool and ottoman add flexibility, ensuring comfort and functionality for groups of any size.
Lean Into Curved Elements
Curvaceous design is bound to catch your eye as rounded detailing is having its moment in the limelight. All at once, in both classic and modern settings, curved elements are appearing. Our Eden-Prairie, MN living room project highlights elegant curves in both its furnishings and architectural details, creating a balance against the straight lines of the television and fireplace. A charcoal barrel chair with a rounded silhouette takes its inspiration from the arched alcove adjacent to the fireplace. The striking alcove adds visual depth to the space, providing both stylish storage and a cozy nook for a party of one.
Accessorize to Create Timeless Victorian Charm
Accessorizing a space is where designers and homeowners alike refine a design concept—taking the concept deeper to really set the tone. In living rooms, where ample square footage allows for greater design opportunities, thoughtful accessorizing enhances the space and makes a lasting impact. Our Luxe, Prior Lake, MN living room new construction client had a vision to create an updated Victorian-inspired home. Che Bella accessorized the space, turning this vision into reality. Floral period-inspired artwork meshes beautifully with custom floor-to-ceiling damask curtains, a tufted sofa and armchairs covered in luxurious fabric. We added groupings of simple brass candlesticks on the mantle and carried the brass finish to the goose-neck floor lamp and other décor elements. The result is a perfect blend of classic Victorian elegance, leaving our homeowner thoroughly delighted.
