A lower-level remodel designed for versatility and calm

This project began with a vision for a multi-purpose lower-level space, one that could shift from a zen retreat to a home theater with ease. After moving from Hawaii, the homeowners hoped to incorporate their love of island architecture. To support this concept, functional shoji screen panels were added to create a flexible environment that adapts to the moment. Their soft translucence and clean lines introduce a peaceful aesthetic when closed, while effortlessly opening to reveal a warm, inviting entertainment area.

Bringing this vision to life was a joy, and the transformed lower level now feels perfectly tailored to the homeowners, balancing functionality and the spirit of the islands in one beautifully cohesive space.
